Record Expungement
Need a Missouri Expungement Lawyer? Your Fresh Start Begins Here
Having a criminal record can feel overwhelming. It affects your career, finances, housing, and even your peace of mind. But there is hope: expungement provides the opportunity to clear your criminal record and reclaim your future. At Twibell Pierson Criminal Law, we are committed to guiding you every step of the way.
Why Expungement Matters
Expungement is the legal process of sealing or erasing criminal records from public view. In Missouri, successfully expunging your criminal record can:
- Improve Employment Opportunities: Employers conducting background checks won’t see expunged convictions.
- Open Access to Housing and Loans: No longer worry about landlords or banks denying your applications due to past mistakes.
- Restore Your Civil Rights: Voting, jury duty, and firearm ownership rights can all be restored through the expungement process.
- Gain Peace of Mind: Start fresh without the stigma and burden of a criminal record.
Are You Eligible for Expungement in Missouri?
Missouri laws, updated significantly in 2025, have expanded expungement eligibility:
- Misdemeanors: Typically eligible one year after completing probation, jail, or fines. You can expunge up to three misdemeanors.
- Felonies: Most non-violent felonies are eligible three years after fulfilling sentencing conditions, including probation and payment of fines. You can expunge up to two felonies.
- Drug Offenses: Most misdemeanor drug charges and felony drug convictions (including possession and certain distribution charges) are eligible.
- DWI Convictions: Eligible for expungement ten years after a first offense, provided you haven’t had any additional alcohol-related offenses and have never held a commercial driver’s license (CDL).
However, certain crimes are not eligible for expungement, including Class A felonies, dangerous felonies, sex crimes requiring registration, felony assaults, domestic violence, kidnapping, and felonies involving death.
How the Missouri Expungement Process Works
Our experienced attorneys simplify the expungement process into manageable steps:

- Filing Your Petition: We draft and submit your petition, naming all relevant law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and courts.
- Court Hearing: Our attorneys will represent you at the expungement hearing, advocating strongly on your behalf.
- Expungement Order: Once granted, your records are sealed from public view, and you’ll legally regain your civil rights and protections.
